Arguements

Something else that I would like to know about writing argumentative papers would be how much of my own ideas and thoughts can go into the paper without it being completely opinonated. All arguementative papers at some point have the writers own thoughts and ideas about the issue but how much is too much? I would like to know how to persuede my audience rather than pushing them to think a certain way about an issue.

audience

The audience my paper would most likely target would be people against gay marriage. Maybe some hard-core republicans would be against it more than Democrats. One person that I know, that is against gay marriage says that he is against it because of his religion and it says so. He was probably brought up to believe and follow his religion stickily and go by what the Bible says. I see his point because a lot of people say the reason they don't agree with it is because of their religion, my goal is to persuede him to think otherwise and be more accepting of gay marriage.

Arguement

The last arguement I was in was between my mom and I. We were arguing about a pair of reading glasses I wanted and needed to get becuase my eyes have slowly been getting really tired and things are appearing blurry when I read or study for too long. So told her I wanted her to order these glassses for me and I would have them by the time I went home in November. She said she talked to the eye doctore and the doctor said that she didn't think that I needed them. When I really don't understand how my eye doctor would know since she hasn't checked my eyes for awhile now. So my mom and I got into this huge argument about how I just needed to get these glasses but she didn't think so becuase the doctor said I didn't need them right now. I told her that the only person that would really know if I needed glasses or not would be myself, for they are my eyes and I'm the one haveing the problems reading. Finally I convinced my mother and she ordered my glasses today.

Fallacy

I think of all the many fallacies that were presented the one I do the most is the Cum Hoc Fallacy. I think this one occures most for me becuase I often think of when two things are presented together that they are related to one another and go together. I often jump to conculsions when this fallacy is brought up. I think this one sticks most in my mind becuase you see it almost everyday. With tv and newspaper ads they all combine two things that aren't even related but they make it sound related to the viewer. Overall though I think the Cum Hoc Fallacy is mostly related to me.

Personal Essay

What I most liked about writing a personal essay was that no research or anything was needed to write it. It all came from within yourself from your personal experiences. You can write about whatever you want and no one knows about it. It is all new information to the person reading.

What I don't really like about writing a personal essay was that there is no one you can go to, to help you write or recall the event. It is all work on your own becuase you are the only one that knows about the experience. Sometimes it is also hard to remember all the details of that particular event in your life and difficult to put it on paper.
